Tenth-ranked Oklahoma City used an 11-0 run to snap the back of the Lady Bison and the Stars recorded their 17th consecutive win over Oklahoma Baptist 69-66 at OCU Saturday.
OBU trailed by as many as nine points with 15 minutes left in the game, but made a rousing comeback as Keely Tolin and Lena Brenning scored four points each in a 9-0 run to tie the game at 48-48 with 10:12 to play.
Mikelle Brown ended the scoring streak for OBU and put the Stars ahead 50-48 before Brenning answered with back-to-back three-pointers for a 54-50 lead with 7:29 to play.
The Stars cut it to one, but Brenning came up with another three to make it a 58-54 Lady Bison lead with 3:52 left in the game. OBU, however, went without a field goal for the next three minutes.
The Stars turned the Lady Bison drought into the fateful 11-0 run, including five points from Romana Vynuchalova, taking a 65-58 lead with 1:17 to play.
OBU never got closer than the three-point final margin with Tolin scoring a lay-up just ahead of the horn.
OBU was led in scoring by Brenning with 19, followed by Dilenny Castillo with 14 and Tolin with 10.
Alexandra Kotta and Chelsea Ledbetter had 18 each for OCU.
Now 10-8 overall and 4-4 in the SAC, the Lady Bison will host Oklahoma Christian on Thursday.
