Bison Lose at OC
January 11, 2007
Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team will be glad to get back to the friendly home gym Saturday after concluding its three-game conference-opening road swing with a 71-67 loss at Oklahoma Christian.
Mike Fraser had a wild night with 18 points and 19 rebounds and the Bison out-rebounded the Eagles 45-37 but could not overcome the difference form the three-point arch has the Eagles canned nine three-pointers to OBU's three.
The lead bounced around four times in the first half, but Oklahoma Christian had the lead for the half's last 10 minutes. The Eagles led 36-32 at halftime as OBU closed the half on a 5-2 run.
The Bison battled back to begin the second half using a six-point run to take a 44-43 lead. Nick Pope, Fraser and Evan Grace scored in that spree, but Jason Taylor scored to give OC the lead for good at the 14:23 mark of the game.
The Bison played much of the remainder within a possession of OC, but could not convert the crucial baskets.
Oklahoma Christian scored eight free throws in the final 1:50 to keep OBU at bay.
Julius Hurd scored 15 to join Fraser in double figures in the scoring column.
Charles Baldwin led OC with 24 points while Keith Harris had 19.
Now 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the SAC, the Bison entertain Southern Nazarene at 8 p.m. Saturday.
