Bison Back In NAIA Top 25
January 31, 2007
Oklahoma Baptist bounced back into the NAIA Top 25 Men's Division I Basketball rankings Wednesday and the Lady Bison held serve just outside the main group in 26th.
The Bison moved to 23rd despite a 1-2 week as raters recognized OBU's narrow home loss to then-No. 7 Southern Nazarene and its overtime loss at No. 2 Oklahoma City.
The 11-7 Bison were one of six teams to move into the Top 25 this week from the outskirts, joining Southern Tech, Trevecca Nazarene, Southern-New Orleans, Illinois-Springfield and Olivet Nazarene.
Oklahoma City stayed No. 2, Southern Nazarene moved up to fifth and Lubbock Christian moved up to 15th. Northwestern Oklahoma State and Oklahoma Christian received votes in the poll.
The Lady Bison lost 19 poll points after a 1-2 week, but stayed right where they were in the poll in 26th after a 1-2 week that included a four-point loss to Southern Nazarene and a three-point loss at Oklahoma City.
SNU is now ranked 18th and OCU 21st. Other Sooner Athletic Conference teams in the women's poll are No. 4 Lubbock Christian and No. 16 Oklahoma Christian. USAO also received votes.
