PARKVILLE, Mo. - Oklahoma Baptist survived a second straight last-second three-point attempt Saturday, picking up a 67-65 win over Columbia College at Park University.
Tabetha Eaton drove the lane and scored on a layup with four seconds left in the game to give OBU the 67-65 lead. Helen Ogunjimi launched a long three-point attempt but could not connect, preserving the OBU win.
The sixth-ranked Lady Bison survived a three-point miss by Park University in the Noble Complex Dec. 10.
Saturday night was OBU's first road game and they played it with an ailing Lena Brenning and without the services of leading scorer Rachel Heins, who missed the game with a knee injury.
Despite the illness, Brenning was phenomenal, scoring 10 points, batting away eight Columbia shots and hauling in 11 rebounds for a near triple-double.
OBU bounced out to a quick 11-0 lead, but Columbia fired off a 18-5 run to take a 18-16 advantage midway through the first half. The game was tied 11 times, including 32-32 at halftime.
Dilenny Castillo led OBU with 14 points, followed by Eaton with 13 and Brenning with 10.
The Lady Bison dominated the offensive glass, collecting 18 offensive boards to Columbia's 16 defensive rebounds, on the way to a 42-28 rebounding advantage for the night.
The win gives OBU a season sweep of the series, after a 78-66 win over the Cougars in Shawnee.
Now 10-0, OBU will play Park Monday at 1 p.m. to close out the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule.
