Oklahoma Baptist University won the battle of Baptist bovines with a 102-68 victory over the Buffaloes of Arkansas Baptist College Saturday in Oklahoma Christian University's Sleep Inn Classic.
Frank Benson had another big night for the Bison, recording 33 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in under 25 minutes of action. His 18 caroms was the most in a game for a Bison since Zac Bennett hauled down 20 in a game at Wayland Baptist in 2000.
Kortney Smith dished out 13 assists, marking the most from a Bison since Kyle Tolin dished 13 against St. Gregory's in 2003.
Jason Bray also had his best game as a Bison, scoring 18 points with four three-point baskets. Trey Griffin added 15 points with Julius Hurd rounding out OBU's foursome of double-digit scorers with 11.
The Bison shot a robust 57.6 percent from the field and improved on that percentage in the second half, shooting 67 percent to finish at 61.4 percent for the game. That figure included a 6-of-13 performance from three-point range.
Casey Garrison led the Buffs with 17 points.
The Bison improved to 6-0 for the season and now lead the Arkansas Baptist series 24-0 all-time. Those two teams will meet in the Noble Complex Dec. 29 in OBU's final non-conference game.
Action resumes for the Bison Friday and Saturday with OBU playing in Central Baptist College's Holiday Classic. They will play Lyon College at 6 p.m. Friday and CBC at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
