Schwarz Signs with Chill

Former Oklahoma Baptist women's basketball forward Layla Schwarz will continue her playing days professionally.
Schwarz, a 6-4 native of Zurich, Switzerland, has signed with the Colorado Chill of the National Women's Basketball League.
"Layla has tremendous athleticism and her ability to run the floor and her overall versatility fit well into our offensive system," said Chill Head Coach Kelly Packard.
The Colorado Chill season will run from February through the end of March. The Chill is a part of the five team NWBL league and play their home games at the Budweiser Events Center in Fort Collins, Colo.
Schwarz scored 299 points her junior season. She and was named a Third-Team NAIA All-American and First-Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference in 2003 after transferring from Oral Roberts University.
She led OBU in scoring, blocked shots and steals in 2003 and was the team's leading scorer again in 2005, earning First-Team All-SAC honors.
Schwarz was the 1996 champion in the Swiss High Jump when she was only 16 and also was a member of the 1998 Swiss basketball championship team.
In 2002, she was the Mid-Continent Conference high jump champion.
