Bison Third, Lady Bison Sixth at Mid-States

Oklahoma Baptist University's cross country teams claimed third in the men's race and sixth in the women's event at Southwestern College's Mid-States Classic Saturday.
The Bison, with 120 points, finished behind Lindenwood (52) and Wayland Baptist (88) in the 23-team race.
Daniel Ellis finished in 10th to lead the OBU squad, finishing in 25:18. Landon Willets was 23rd in 26:18, followed by Lance Goodwin (26:24)and Theron Stoltzfus (26:25) in 27th and 28th. Jacob Wright was 36th, rounding out the scoring five for the Bison in 26:45.
Also for the Bison, Michael Elizondo was 45th at 26:59 and Ricardo Diaz was 55th in 27:08.
Rounding out the field for the Bison were Drew Van Zandt in 68th, Tim Bass in 105th, Nathan Battershell in 114th, Brock Stoltzfus in 139th, Will Korver in 145th, Josh Kinman in 158th and Trace Heavener in 167th.
The Lady Bison finished sixth in the 22-team field with 155 points, trailing Doane, Mid-America Nazarene, Lindenwood, St. Scholastica and Oklahoma Christian.
Becka Brock in 14th led OBU in 19:16. Kyta Willets was second for OBU with a 19:25 for 20th place, with Kyli Bean less then a second behind in 21st at 19:25.9. Chandra Huckabay tok 45th at 19:52 and rounding out the Lady Bison scorers was Katy Rader in 59th at 20:04.
Mallory Cowden was 84th in 20:38 and Johna Moore was 103rd at 21:02. Sarah Hale was 123rd.
Next action for Bison and Lady Bison will be Nov. 5 when OBU hosts the NAIA Region VI and Sooner Athletic Conference Championships.
