OBU Sweeps McPherson
Oklahoma Baptist took two games from McPherson College with the OBU women wining 6-0 before the Bison recorded a 3-0 triumph.
The OBU women extended their school-record win streak to seven games with the win behind two goals each from Katya Arruda and Kara McGrenera and one each from keeper Maira Negri and Rachel Warkentien.
Arruda put OBU ahead 1-0 in the fourth minute with an assist from Brittany Cook. The Lady Bison were on the scoreboard again 32 seconds later as Cook assisted McGrenera for a 2-0 lead.
McGrenera scored again in the 11th minute with an assist from Arruda.
Negri scored on a penalty kick in the 15th minute.
Arruda scored an unassisted goal in the 20th minute and OBU carried the 5-0 lead into the second half.
The Lady Bison (7-0-1) scored the lone second half goal in the 47th minute when Rachel Warkentien.
Negri and Andi Little combined for the shutout with Negri getting the only save as OBU out-shot the Bulldogs 36-2.
In the men's game, OBU (9-2-1) out-shot McPherson 38-4.
Pablo Campos scored on a 33rd minute penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
Marcos Silva headed in a feed from Nickson Odeny in the 37th minute for the 2-nil advantage.
The final goal game from Silva with an assist from Kyle Anderson in the 71st minute.
OBU will open Sooner Athletic Conference action Oct. 1 at home against Oklahoma Christian.
