OBU Men Second at Bison Invitational
East Central's Josh Stewart won the Bison Invitational men's cross country meet Saturday at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, leading the Tigers to a first place finish, just six points ahead of Oklahoma Baptist.
Stewart completed the course in 26:15.01.
Daniel Ellis led the Bison with a time of 26:26 in third place while Theron Stoltzfus was eighth at 26:47 and Landon Willets 10th at 26:54.02.
No times were available after the top 10 places on the men's race. Rounding out OBU's 55 team points were Lance Goodwin in 14th and Ricardo Diaz in 21st. Also for OBU, Drew VanZandt was 22nd, Michael Elizondo was 26th, Jacob Wright was 32nd, Tim Bass was 38th, Josh Kinman was 40th, Trace Heavener was 46th, Will Korver was 47th, Nathan Battershell was 48th, Brock Stoltzfus was 49th, and Dylan Byrd was 62nd.
East Central won with 49 points, followed by OBU with 55, Oklahoma Christian with 72, Dallas Baptist with 112 and St. Gregory's at 161.
On the women's side, Oklahoma Christian won with 62 points, followed by Central Oklahoma with 67, Dallas Baptist with 86, OBU with 104, Southern Nazarene at 107, Midwestern State at 128, East Central at 148, Southwestern Oklahoma State at 191, McMurry at 243 and Southeastern Oklahoma State at 274.
Rachel Ingram of Southwestern won the meet in 18:32.41.
Bekah Brock led OBU in sixth place at 19:26.86, followed by Kyta Willets in 20th at 20:22.42, Mallory Cowden in 21st at 20:27.70, Chandra Huckabay in 25th an 20:58.05, and Johna Moore in 32nd at 21:13.94.
Also for OBU, Katy Rader was 40th and Sarah Hale was 42nd.
OBU returns to action Oct. 1 at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater.
