Oklahoma Baptist University will host the Wilson/ITA Small College Regional Championships Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at OBU and Shawnee High School.
OBU, Southern Nazarene, College of Santa Fe, Oklahoma Christian, Oklahoma Wesleyan and John Brown are the six teams in the regional, which should be a very competitive Intercollegiate Tennis Association event.
"This will be a great opportunity to see some really outstanding tennis," said OBU tennis coach Sue Dick. "The College of Santa Fe men's team in the No. 2 team in the country and Larika Russell of Southern Nazarene won the women's title in this tournament at the national level last year."
Both SNU and Oklahoma Christian were Top 25 women's teams last season.
Admission is free and play begins Friday, Sept. 30, at 9 a.m. with men at OBU and women at Shawnee High School. The semifinals and finals will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, with all matches at OBU.
"Hosting important tournaments like this provides us a great opportunity to showcase OBU and get our name out among many of the top-ranked schools in the country," Dick said. "It's also a great tool for making potential student athletes aware of our tennis programs. This is a really exciting time for tennis at OBU."
