Bison 10th, Lady Bison 17th at Southern Stampede

Oklahoma Baptist opened its cross country season in the middle of the pack at the Southern Stampede, hosted in Joplin by Missouri Southern State University.
The Lady Bison finished 17th in the 34-team field in the NCAA-NAIA mixed field with 493 points.
Kyta Willets was OBU's top performer in 52nd place in 19:01.3. Bekah Brock was 90th in 19:33.2, followed by Chandra Huckabay in 125th at 20:01.7, Mallory Cowden in 133rd at 20:09; and Katy Rader in 149th at 20:22.6.
Also for OBU, Johna Moore was 170th and Sarah Hale was 179th in the 295-runner field.
The OBU men finished 10th among 33 teams and was the top-finishing NAIA team.
Daniel Ellis led the Bison in 26th place at 25:31.7 with Landon Willets finishing in 26:08.8 for 43rd.
Theron Stoltfus was 71st at 26:39.3, followed by Lance Goodwin in 85th at 26:54.2, and Jacob Wright in 109th at 27:18.2.
Also for the Bison, Drew Van Zandt was 148th and Michael Elizondo was 182nd in the field of 307 runners.
The OBU teams return to action in their home meet, the Bison Invitational at Gordon Cooper Technology Center, Saturday, Sept. 24.
