For just over a half, Oklahoma Baptist University's men's soccer team showed why it was the No. 13 team in the nation. But in the last 22 minutes, Azusa Pacific showed why it is No. 4, in a 4-2 Cougar win.
The Bison struck first, scoring the only goal of the first half on a breakaway drive and goal by Pablo Campos, who fought off a defender and beat keeper Morgan Cathey for the 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.
Andrily Budnyy scored the first of his two goals with an assist from Sven Simon in the 53rd minute for the 1-1 tie.
OBU bounced right back, scoring just 20 seconds later on a second Campos goal, this one assisted by Marcos Silva. OBU led 2-1 until the 68th minute.
Budnyy, with the assist from Kris Van Houten, tied the score 2-2. The Cougars took their first lead of the game in the 80th minute with Skelly Kellar scoring with an assist from Budnyy.
APU put the game on ice just under two minutes later when Steven Lenhart headed in the long feed from Tony Rotunno.
The Cougars (5-1) out-shot OBU 13-6 for the game.
OBU, falling to 6-2-1, will try to regroup with a trip to Southwestern College, Kan., on Tuesday.
