OBU Recruits Play in Global Games

Two incoming Oklahoma Baptist University men's basketball players represented Team Texas at the Global Games in Frisco, Texas, July 23-30.
Kortney Smith, a 6-0 guard from Grayson County Community College, and Collin County Community College product Jason Bray, a 6-5 shooting guard, both started three games in the tournament for Team Texas, which is made up of junior college players from Texas.
Smith averaged 9.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 50 percent (8-16) from three-point range and 90 percent from the free throw line. Bray averaged 9.2 points and hit 50 percent (12-of-24) from three-point range.
Completing its sixth year of competition, the tournament annually brings the world's top male basketball players, ages 21 & under, to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
This year, for the first time, the games were held at the Deja Blue Arena at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco, Texas. This year's field included men's junior national teams from USA Basketball, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Ukraine. Additionally, it featured Africa Select, Team Texas and the host team, Global Games Select.
Team Texas reached the finals of the tournament, falling to USA in the championship game.
The list of those who have competed in the tournament are NBA stars Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer and C.J. Miles of the Utah Jazz, Ike Diogu of the Golden State Warriors, Antoine Wright of the New Jersey Nets, Chris Bosh of the Toronto Raptors, Seattle SuperSonics teammates Luke Ridnour, Nick Collison and Vladimir Radmanovic, Rickey Sanchez of the Denver Nuggets, Jarrett Jack of the Portland Trailblazers, and Houston Rockets All-Star Yao Ming.
