Oklahoma Baptist University added Lon Morris College transfer Julius Hurd to the roster for the 2005-06 basketball season.
Hurd, a 6-7 forward from Dallas, averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game in leading LMC to the 2003-04 national tournament. LMC also produced OBU All-American Jamel Coachman.
Hurd was second-team All-East Texas Junior College Conference, which is the same conference that has produced OBU standouts DuJuan Brown, David Williams, Coachman and Leonard Mosley.
"Julius was one of the best junior college players in East Texas two years ago," said OBU coach Doug Tolin.
Hurd attended South Oak Cliff High School, where he was an All-State selection.
Hurd joins newcomers Jason Bray from Louisiana Tech, Kortney Smith from Grayson County, Matt Canaday from Texas State, and Trey Griffin from West Hills Junior College.
OBU, two-time defending Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament champions, reached the second round of the NAIA Tournament last season.
