Oklahoma Baptist University's Lady Bison golf team climbed three spots into sixth place, with freshman Maggie Cole staying in medal contention after the second round of the NAIA Women's Golf Championship Wednesday.
Cole shot an 80 after a first round 77, but her 157 midway-total was enough to overtake first-round leaders Karin Boo and Whitney Guinn. Cole, now alone in fourth place, trails leader Emily Albrektson of Oklahoma City by six strokes.
As a team, OBU trimmed four strokes off its first round performance and moved into a sixth-place tie with Berry College. Oklahoma City shot a team 309 to move into first place, followed by Southern Nazarene, 14 strokes back.
Also for OBU, Michelle Hunter had the 10th-best round of the second day, dropping six strokes for a 79. The move took her to 30th overall at 164. Ellen Zaske matched her 85 from Tuesday and is 55th at 170.
Jennifer Mann trimmed a stroke for a second-round 86, and is 64th at 173. Amber McMurry shot a 91 after her first round 92 to land in 97th at 183.
The 72-hole tournament continues through Friday.
