Thurber Named All-Region Softball

Katy Thurber, who ended her career near the top of every major offensive all-time record at Oklahoma Baptist University, was named to the All-Region VI Softball Team.
Thurber, a senior third baseman from Bixby, batted .344 on the season with four home runs and 30 RBI. She finished off her four-year OBU career second all-time in hits at 211, runs with 120, doubles with 43 and home runs with 16; third all-time in at bats at 622, and RBI with 121; fifth all-time in triples with eight; and seventh all-time with a .339 career batting average.
Her All-Region status qualifies her for consideration for All-America. She also has been nominated for NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete for 2005.
Thurber, a 2004 NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete, was a second-team All-American in 2003, as well as a first-team All-Region selection and runner-up in the SAC Player of the Year voting. She is a four-time All-Conference selection. She is the daughter of Mick and Cheryl Thurber and sister of OBU track All-American Sara Thurber.
