Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday had the challenge of getting set for a game that didn't matter less than 24 hours after one of the most exciting postseason victories the team has had. OBU responded with a 19-4 loss to Lubbock Christian in the SAC Championship game.
The Bison struck for all four of its runs in the first inning, using a three-run home run by Danny Guidry, his 14th of the season, and an RBI single by Eric Curry.
LCU went ahead 10-4 with an eight-run third inning and added two runs in the sixth and seven more in the seventh, including a grand slam by Fernando Cortez.
Despite the loss, OBU will head to the Region VI Tournament along with LCU and Oklahoma City. Those three teams, plus the two Red River Athletic Conference finalists and one other at-large team will begin regional play at Houston Baptist University Wednesday.
