Softball Season Ends in Alva

Oklahoma Baptist had its season come to an end Tuesday in Alva with a pair of losses, 4-3 and 8-6.
Amanda Zahara was the hard-luck loser in the eight-inning opener, allowing no earned runs in going the distance.
Northwestern took a 1-0 lead in the second on a passed ball with two outs. The lead improved to 2-0 in the fourth on two hits and an error.
OBU tied the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Allison Ramzy and a throwing error. The Lady Bison fell behind 3-2 in the bottom of the inning, but tied it in the seventh on Cathy Nitz's team-leading seventh home run of the season.
The Rangers won in the bottom of the eight on an outfield error.
Ramzy had three of OBU's seven hits.
The loss ended OBU's postseason hopes.
In the second game, the Lady Bison fell behind 3-0 in the first but rallied for five runs in the second on a grand slam by Sandralina Rones. Brett Swofford doubled and scored on a single by Catherine Eimen.
Northwestern scored twice in the third, twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to take an 8-5 lead. OBU scored its final run of the season in the seventh with Megan Buller scoring on a ground out by Rones.
Rones, Swofford and Melissa Martinez had two hits each.
The Lady Bison end the season at 25-22.
"I hurt for our seniors Katy Thurber and Brett Swofford," said OBU coach Pam Fink. "They represented OBU well on and off the field. They will be missed."
