OBU Sweeps SAC Track Titles

Oklahoma Baptist cruised to the Sooner Athletic Conference Track Championship with the Bison winning by 137 points and the Lady Bison by 106 points.
The OBU men finished with 10 event wins and 253 points. Wayland Baptist was second at 116, Oklahoma Christian third at 111, Southern Nazarene fourth at 85 and St. Gregory's fifth at 17.
OBU Coach Ford Mastin was named SAC Coach of the Year, his women's team capturing a ninth consecutive conference title and his men the seventh win in the last nine.
Wayland Baptist's Janeille Braithwaite captured the women's high point honors while OBU thrower Jeremiah Campo took the men's high point award.
Seventeen qualifying marks were achieved despite a strong north wind.
On the men's events, Oklahoma Baptist won the 4x100 in a qualifying time of 41.18 seconds with Wayland Baptist taking second in a qualifying time of 41.66.
OBU's Pat Brown and Lamar Baskin finished first and second in the 110 high hurdles with qualifying times of 14.18 and 14.67 seconds, respectively.
WBU's Montez Pride and Rohan Thompson finished 1-2 in the 100 meters with qualifying marks of 10.45 and 10.67 seconds.
Pride also qualified in the 200 meters at 21.07 seconds.
OBU's 4x400 relay team won with a NAIA qualifying time of 3:16.
SAC throwing champions were Campo in the discus at 148-0.5, OBU's Michael Chavez in the javelin at 183-3, Oklahoma Christian's Aaron Hoffines in the hammer at 154-1, and Ivan Martinez of SNU in the shot put at 44-10.
Jumping champions were WBU's Nenad Stojanovic in the long jump at 22-11.25; OBU's Dominique Chan Low in the triple jump at 45-10.5, WBU's DeJuan Davis in the high jump at 6-2, and SNU's Dustin Green in the pole vault at 15-0.
OBU captured the 4x800 in 8:06.07.
Joe Hughes of St. Gregory's won the 400 meters in 48.71. Kenneth Bowling of OC won the 5000 meters at 15.23
OBU's Landon Willets was a two-time champion, winning the 1500 meters in 4:02.55 and the 800 meters in 1:57.66.
OBU's Brown won the 400 intermediate hurdles at 54.39.
On the women's side, OBU's Mirriam Kaumba won the 1500 and the 5000, both with qualifying times of 4:38.65 and 17:33.
Braithwaite of WBU won the 200 meters in 24.85 seconds and the 100 hurdles at 14.47 seconds, both national qualifying marks. OBU's Sara Thurber was second in the 100 hurdles with a qualifying time of 14.71 seconds.
OBU's Keyonna Hornbuckle and WBU's Braithwaite went 1-2 in the 400 low hurdles with qualifying times of 1:01.03 and 1:02.6.
Lady Bison Kyta Ferrer won the 800 meters with a qualifying mark of 2:16.24. WBU's Equilla Weatherton won the 100 meters with a qualifying time of 12 seconds.
Women's throwing champions were WBU's Megan Newton in the shot put (37-1.5) and the hammer at 137-5; Oklahoma Christian's Erin Rawlins in the javelin (108-10) and SNU's Tiffany Greeno in the discus at 120-11.
Women's jump champions were OBU's Deena Almohandis in the long jump (17-5.5), OBU's Mai Fukada in the triple jump (36-2.5), OBU's Michelle Carpenter in the high jump (5-4.25), and SNU's Beka Wallis in the pole vault (10-6).
SNU won the 4x800 relay in 9:51.25, while OBU took the 4x100 (49.07) and the 4x400 (3:56.56).
OBU's Kyli Bean won the 400 meters at 57.76.
