Bison Knock Off Southwestern

Oklahoma Baptist's Bison tennis team swept through Southwestern College (Kan.) Saturday without losing a set in a 9-0 romp.
The Lady Bison lost a heartbreaker, 5-4, after coming up short on two decisive matches.
Steve Bajema won his No. 1 singles match over Lafayette Berry, 6-3, 7-5, in what was the closest singles match of the men's day.
Jared Haley won at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1, over Ramon Lozano. Eric Scroggins downed Joel Wilke in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
Curtis Schube won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-4, over Warren Hanson. Justin Wesselhoft took a pair of 6-2 sets from Munya Madeyi in No. 5 singles and Caleb Potter won, 6-4, 6-0, in No. 6 over Devon Steward.
Bajema and Haley cruised in No. 1 doubles, 8-1, over Berry-Lozano. Schube-Scroggins defeated Wilke-Hanson, 8-5, at No. 2 and in No. 3 doubles, Potter-Wesselhoft scored an 8-2 win over Madeyi-Seward.
OBU improved to 3-13 on the year.
The Lady Bison came up short with No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles coming up just short for OBU.
Lauren White rallied from being down a set in No. 2 singles, winning the second set 6-4, but couldn't hold the momentum and lost in a tough third set, 6-2, to Leah Rankin
White and Kerri McNutt battled Rankin and Suzanne Fry to a tiebreaker in No. 1 doubles, but lost it there, 7-2.
OBU's lone doubles win came at No. 3 with Kim Daniel and Haley Howard knocking off Kayla Drake and Sarah Hodgkinson, 8-2.
OBU won in Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles as well. Ashley Jerige took Megan Hudson down, 6-1, 6-0, in No. 4 singles. Christa Tjeerdsma knocked off Drake at No. 5, 6-2, 6-1, and Howard won at No. 6 over Hodgkinson, 6-2, 6-0. Howard was the lone OBU women to get both a doubles and a singles win.
The Lady Bison dip to 3-20 on the season.
OBU will play in the Region VI Tournament in Oklahoma City beginning Friday.
