OCU Takes Two from Bison
March 28, 2005
Twenty-fifth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist dropped a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader, 10-6 and 12-1, to No. 6 Oklahoma City University Monday.
OBU couldn't find an answer for OCU's Nick Klusaw, who was 6-for-7 with nine RBI in the twin bill.
The Bison (25-10, 4-4) trailed in the first game 7-1, but used a four-run fifth to pull within 7-5.
Kip Keith got his second single and second stolen base and scored on a base hit by Aaron Dickson to make it 7-2. Frankie Ibarra then ripped his second double for an RBI and scored on a double by Nick Bakich. OBU got its fifth run when Bakich scored on a dropped fly ball in center field.
The Stars responded in the top of the seventh with three runs, including a solo home run by Antwan Capla.
Felix Peguero added an RBI ground out in the seventh, but Tag Horner kept OBU at bay for his first save of the season.
Mike Mlotkowski (7-0) picked up the win with Chris Ryan (3-2) absorbing the loss.
In the second game, Preston Sims (6-1) took a no-hitter into the bottom of the fifth. Adam Dalby and Kip Keith started the last inning with singles however, and Dickson singled home courtesy runner Daniel Hayes to break up the shutout.
OBU couldn't avoid the run-rule however, and dropped the second game after five innings.
OBU will contest Southern Nazarene at Bison Field on Thursday.
