March 24, 2005
A doubleheader between the No. 28 and 29 teams in the NAIA ended in a split at OBU and St. Gregory's divided the twin bill Thursday at Lady Bison Field.
The 28th-ranked Lady Bison won the opener 2-1 before falling in the second game 4-0.
Amanda Zahara allowed three earned runs, pitching both ends of the twin bill and is now 8-5 on the season.
No. 29 St. Gregory's took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a passed ball, but OBU bounced back with their only two runs of the day in the bottom of the third when Michelle Asmundson singled up the middle with two outs to drive home a pair of runs.
Zahara got through the rest of the game unscathed, holding the Cavaliers to four hits for the game.
Sandralina Rones, who turned in several defensive gems from shortstop, led the OBU hitters with three singles. Asmundson was 2-for-2 in the game. OBU finished the first game with eight singles.
Angie Delaney limited OBU to seven hits in getting the shutout in the second game. Brett Swofford had a double and six other Lady Bison had singles.
Zahara allowed one unearned run through the first six innings before giving way for three earned runs in the seventh to put the game beyond reach.
OBU, now 12-7 overall and 1-3 in the SAC will have a week off before hosting Oklahoma Christian March 31.
