OBU Splits at Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. — Oklahoma Baptist University extended its win streak to three games before losing on the road to Cameron in a split of 5-3 games.
OBU won the opener in eight innings.
The Lady Bison took a 1-0 lead in the third when Sandralina Rones singled and scored on a double by Allison Ramzy. OBU made it 2-0 in the top of the sixth with a solo home run by Cathy Nitz.
Cameron tied the game in the sixth on a two-run home run by Melinda Farrow.
The game went to an international tiebreaker in the eighth and OBU scored three times in the top of the inning on an RBI single by Ramzy and a two-run home run by Katy Thurber.
Cameron threatened in the bottom of the inning, but Amanda Zahara fanned Farrow as the tying run at the plate to improve her pitching record to 2-1.
OBU had nine hits in the game, led by Nitz with three, while Rones and Ramzy had two each.
The Lady Bison jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game, using a two-run single by Brett Swofford, the second run coming in on an error.
Cameron tied the game in the bottom of the first and added three runs in the second for a 5-2 lead.
OBU’s final run came on a Melissa Martinez RBI single in the third. The Lady Bison out-hit Cameron 10-6, but left eight runners stranded. Martinez, Thurber and Ramzy had two hits each.
Ashley Howard took the loss to drop to 1-1.
OBU, now 3-2, will host Southwestern Oklahoma State in the Lady Bison home opener Thursday afternoon.
