February 11, 2005
Oklahoma Baptist University's 22nd-ranked baseball team improved to 3-0 with a 4-0 victory over Tabor College Friday.
OBU broke open a scoreless tie on Felix Peguero's three-home run to right. The Bison added the fourth run in the fifth inning when Peguero singled, stole second and scored on a Nick Bakich single to left center.
The Bison, which entered the game with a 1.29 team earned run average, got a combined shut out from Sean Dryden, J. Vinson and Chad Rhoades.
Dryden (1-0) picked up the win, going five innings with one hit and eight strikeouts. He walked one and hit two batters. He worked out of a first-inning jam with runners at first and second with one out by collecting his second and third strikeouts of the inning.
Vinson tossed one inning and worked out of bases-loaded, no-out jam by striking out two batters and inducing a ground ball to first base.
Rhoades closed the game out.
The Bison had six hits in the win with Peguero and Bakich collecting two each. OBU will play Sunday and Monday at Hardin-Simmons.
