Baseball Takes Two from Newman

Oklahoma Baptist grabbed a pair of wins in a Tuesday twinbill with Newman University, 4-2, 4-0.
The Bison fell behind in the opener as Newman scored two runs, one earned off Tabor Woolard in the third inning an RBI single by Robert Wallinger and a sacrifice fly Dan Rudisill.
Woolard worked out of a fifth-inning jam with two runners in scoring position and one out by getting one of his eight strikeouts and a pop up.
The Bison bats responded in the bottom of the inning with a lead-off home run by Isaac Romero, followed by consecutive singles by Kip Keith, Frank Ibarra and Nick Bakich, ahead of a two-out, two-run double by Felix Peguero for a 3-2 Bison lead.
OBU added the final run on an RBI single by Aaron Dickson in sixth.
Woolard (2-1) pitched into the seventh before Chad Rhoades came on to get the last two outs with a runner aboard for his second save.
Danny Guidry had two hits to pace OBU*s eight-hit attack.
Chris Ryan (2-1) threw a complete-game shut out, allowing three hits with six strike outs and no walks. He worked out of a no-out bases loaded jam with a two strikeouts and a ground out.
OBU got sacrifice flies in the first and second innings by Adam Dalby and Nick Bakich to take a 2-0
lead. Ibarra drove home a third inning run on a ground out and Peguero did the same in the sixth.
OBU worked just three hits off side-arming right hander Patrick Allen with Peguero and Bakich rocketing triples and Dickson coming up with a single.
OBU, 8-2, will play Texas Wesleyan in a Friday-Saturday three-game set this weekend.
