OBU Signs Boyer for 2005-06
January 11, 2005
Shawnee High School's All-State catcher Jayme Boyer signed a scholarship agreement Tuesday to play softball at Oklahoma Baptist University, beginning in the 2005-06 season.
"Jayme is perfect for OBU," said Lady Bison softball coach Pam Fink. "She's a terrific athlete and student and she loves the Lord. Those are the kinds of people you want at the heart of the program. She's going to be a big part of our success in softball."
In addition to earning All-State honors, Boyer was a four-time All-Suburban Conference, earning Newcomer of the Year and MVP honors along the way. She also is a two-time All-Big City honoree.
A National Honor Society member, Boyer plans to major in telecommunication.
Boyer said she chose OBU for its 'great atmosphere and education, as well as the chance to compete on the collegiate level in softball."
Boyer is the daughter of Todd and Dana Boyer. Todd is the SHS softball coach.
"Shawnee has really taken off lately in softball and Jayme's been a big part of that," said Fink. "I'm excited to have her on the team."
Boyer will be the first SHS alum to play softball at OBU in more than a decade.
