Golden Eagles shoot lights out at OBU

John Brown shot 57.1 percent from three point range and shot OBU right out of the gym. John Brown withstood every run OBU put up to defeat the Bison 80-71. OBU falls to 2-5 in the conference and 14-6 overall. John Brown improves to 4-3 in the SAC 13-5 on the year.
The Golden Eagles got 19 points from Brandon Cole who had the hot hand late in the second half making all of his three of his shots from behind the arc in a four minute span (8:41-4:41).
JBU also got double figures from Steve Briggs, who scored 16, and got 12 points from Reyjavick De Gracia and Adam Workman.
Justin Benson matched Cole's game high with 19 points of his own while Leonard Mosley scored 15. Mike Fraser and Robert Hart scored 12 with Fraser pulling in eight rebounds.
OBU only held the led twice at 3-2 and 6-7 before the Golden Eagles took the lead for good at 9-6 with 15:35 left.
OBU got as far down as 17 in the first half at 31-14, but closed the gap to 31-20 with 6:03 in the half. Robert Hart brought OBU within eight with five seconds left in half when he drained a jumper to make the score 36-28 at intermission.
OBU came within three at 42-39 before bringing their deficit down to one at 44-43 with 15:13 left on back-to-back field goals by Benson. However that was the closest the Bison came as John Brown began to pull away. OBU made a couple of runs in latter in the half and pulled to with in two at 55-53 and three at 74-71. The last run OBU had was with 1:59 left to play when Mosley hit back-to-back treys followed by a Benson field goal and free throw and a Hart three as OBU pulled to with in three (74-71) with 49 seconds to play.
