Bison Go 2-3 at Joplin Tournament

JOPLIN, Mo. — Oklahoma Baptist University’s top three men competed at the Wild Card Tennis Tournament in Joplin, claiming a 2-3 record.
“Our guys really did a great job and raised their level of play to meet the challenge,” said OBU coach Sue Dick. “This was the first time we’ve gotten past the first round.”
Tyson Allard defeated Blake Little of Joplin, 6-2, 6-1, but then lost to Dante Cipulli of Argentina, 6-0, 6-0. Cipulli is the defending NCAA Division II National Champion.
Jared Haley knocked off Bolivia’s Roberto Cabero, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 before losing to Sean McQuery of Springfield, Mo., 6-7 (3-7), 6-1.
Steve Bajema bowed out in the opener to Mar Lealej of Drury University, 6-0, 6-3.
The Bison return to action Feb. 9 against Freed-Hardeman.
