January 20, 2005
Despite the poor performance of Jerred Merril, who scored only 12 points for the Eagles, Oklahoma Christian defeated Oklahoma Baptist University Thursday night 72-59. Keith Harris led the way for OC as he scored 25 points on four-of-five from beyond the three-point line. With Merrill drawing so much attention from the Bison defender Harris was able to fire from all over the field. Brady Page also had 17 points for the Eagles while dishing out five assists. Charles Baldwin also added 15 points for the Eagles as he rounded out the scorers in double figures for OC.
Leonard Mosley led the way for OBU with 24 points and also pulled in five rebounds. The only other Bison in double figures was Mike Fraser who scored a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Eagles and Bison traded leads early in the first half with the lead changing four times in the first eight minutes of the game. With 13:59 left in the first half Brady Page ignited a 12-0 run as the Eagles took a 21-13 lead and never relinquished the lead from that point on.
At the half OC held a 10-point lead at 33-23.
The Eagles took their biggest lead at 17 (50-33) with 13:23 left in the game, but OBU began to work their way back into the game.
With 12:08 to play Leonard Mosley got a 13-3 run started as OBU pulled back within seven at 53-46 with 7:34 left to play. However that was the closest OBU got as OC continued to pull away and finally finished the Bison off with a 13-point victory.
With the win OBU falls 1-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and 13-5 for the year. Oklahoma Christian improves to 17-1 overall and stand alone in first place in the SAC with a 5-1 record.
OBU now head to SNU Saturday to round out their four game road trip. The Bison return back to Shawnee Monday with a game against John Brown University.
