Bison Swats Bees with School Records for Blocks
December 4, 2004
It wasn't a pretty picture for Savannah College of Art and Design Saturday as OBU swatted the Bees, 85-49.
Tetyanna Klimenko recorded a school record 10 blocked shots and led the Lady Bison to a school single game record 21 blocked shots as a team.
"It was good to see her get an unconventional double-double," said OBU coach John McCullough. Klimenko had 12 points and seven rebounds.
The win put OBU at 10-0 for the first time since the 1994-95 season.
OBU never trailed in the game as Layla Schwarz put OBU ahead quickly with a personal 6-1 run to start the game.
The Bison gained its biggest first-half lead at 41-18 as Sheneka Holder fed Rachel Heins for back-to-back baskets, the second being a three-point play with 52 seconds left in the half.
OBU led 42-19 at halftime.
SCAD never got closer than 18 in the second half and scored only one field goal and five free throws in the last six minutes of the game. Meanwhile, OBU was reeling off 17 points and took its biggest lead, 85-47, with 87 seconds left.
Heins led the OBU effort with 23 points, followed by Schwarz with 18.
OBU plays Rhema Bible College at 6 p.m. Tuesday, wrapping up the pre-Christmas schedule.
