Bison Shake Off Rust with Win Over Hillsdale
December 31, 2004
Seventh-ranked Oklahoma Baptist shed the effects of a less-than-stellar first half shooting and improved to 12-1 with a 76-48 win over Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College Friday night.
The Bison shot 42.3 percent in the first half but ended the night shooting 53.4 percent after connecting on 20 of 32 (62.5 percent) field goal attempts in the second half.
Frank Benson came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting and was joined in double-figure scoring by Bison starters Leonard Mosley with 13 and Mike Fraser with 12.
OBU led from the start but Hillsdale closed to within two points with two minutes left in the first half. The Bison closed out the half with the last four points and led 27-21 at intermission.
Mosley got OBU going in the second half with a quick three-pointer and a two-point jumper to go with a couple of assists during an 11-0 run.
The Bison committed just 12 turnovers in the game.
Robert Hart had 11 assists.
The Bison will open Sooner Athletic Conference play Thursday at St. Gregory's University.
