OBU's Pires Named SAC Newcomer of the Year

Oklahoma Baptist University midfielder Fabio Pires has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year for men's soccer.

A first year program, OBU has had a successful first season with Pires making a big contribution with his team-high 13 assists. He also had four goals.

Pires, a junior from Itanhaem, Brazil, was also named a First-Team All-Conference selection and was the only Bison on the first team.

Making the second team were Nickson Odeny, Thiago Silva and Marcos Silva.

Odenny, a freshman defender from Nairobi, Kenya, has one goal this season. Thiago Silva, a sophomore midfielder from Sao Paulo, Brazil, has 14 goals and eight assists. Marcos Silva, a junior forward from Itanhaem, Brazil, has 14 goals and 10 assists.
