OBU Soccer Players Garner Honors

Oklahoma Baptist University's first-year soccer program picked up three individual honors recently from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
OBU women's soccer players Angie King and Melissa Thorman were named All-America Scholar Athletes and Bison Fabio Pires was listed as an honorable mention All-American.
King, a junior defender from Dyersburg, Tenn., played in all 16 games, most as a starter for OBU. She is an interdisciplinary major. Thorman, started all 15 games and played in all 16 contests and had two goals and an assist. She is a junior but has two more seasons of eligibility. Thorman is a defender from Tulsa, majoring in family psychology.
Pires, who earned Sooner Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year honors, is a junior forward from Itanhaem, Brazil. He started all 21 games for the Bison and had a team-best 13 assists, along with five goals. He was OBU's lone first-team All-Conference selection.
