Bison Coast to Second Win
November 9, 2004
Oklahoma Baptist buried Southwestern Christian in the first half and then coasted through the second half en route to an 87-56 win.
OBU took a 48-17 lead by halftime, using a 14-0 run and 54.5 percent shooting while hassling the Eagles into shooting less than 20 percent.
SCU didn't exactly light things up in the second half, but did record an 11-0 run after falling behind by 36points. After the Bison shot 62 percent from inside the arch in the first half, they got off just 19 shots inside two-point range in the second half, as the Eagles limited second-chance opportunities.
Justin Benson led OBU with 20 points and was joined in double figures by Frank Benson with 12, Robert Hart and Leonard Mosley with 11 each, and Mike Fraser with 10. Andrew Bryant, Hart and Frank Benson all had seven rebounds to lead the OBU effort.
SCU played an even 39-39 on the scoreboard with OBU in the second half.
Jacob O'Byrne, standing a stout 5-9, led SCU with 18 points.
The Bison, 2-1, will play Jarvis Christian College at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The OBU women return to action Saturday in an exhibition game against Southwestern Oklahoma State University at 1:30 p.m.
