OBU Sweeps Sterling Soccer Squads

Oklahoma Baptist University improved to 4-0 on its swing through Kansas Saturday with a men's-women's doubleheader sweep of Sterling College.
The OBU women beat the Knights 6-1 before the Bison captured an 8-2 victory.
Daniela Magallon recorded a hat trick, giving her five goals in her first two games in the OBU lineup, while Katinha Arruda scored twice and had an assist.
Arruda scored the first goal five minutes into the game with an assist from Sara Williams and the Lady Bison led 1-0 at halftime.
Arruda then set up Melissa Thorman for her first goal five minutes into the second half. Arruda then scored on a feed from Abby Rettele in the 58th minute.
Magallon scored on a direct kick with 14 minutes left in the game for a 4-0 OBU lead and added another goal on an assist from Joanne Swearingen nine minutes later. Sterling stopped the string with three minutes left in the game, but the Swearingen to Magallon connection worked again with two minutes to play.
OBU's women improved to 5-3 with the win.
The Bison scored four goals in each half to move to 10-1 on the season, with two goals each by Amaury Nunes and Adauto Oliveira, along with two assists each by Tony Madegwa and Fabio Pires.
Nunes scored the first goal in the 13th minute off a Madegwa assist. Oliveira scored on a free kick for a 2-0 lead 10 minutes later.
Madegwa passed to Pires for a 3-0 lead and Nunes scored with an assist from Patrick Little for a 4-0 lead with seven minutes left in the half. OBU led 4-0 at intermission.
Oliveira scored unassisted five minutes into the second half and Pires passed to Elijah Mwansanga, who scored his first collegiate goal in the 52nd minute. Oliveira and Pires were credited with assists on a goal by Kyle Megenity in the 65th minute.
Sterling got on the board to make it 7-1, but Justin Kunz answered for OBU with five minutes to play. Sterling added a final goal with six seconds left.
