OBU Sweeps McPherson

Oklahoma Baptist University's men's soccer team posted its first victory as a Top 25 squad and the women's team went above .500 for the first time in a pair of 4-1 road wins over McPherson College.
The OBU women, playing their first-ever road game, improved to 4-3 on the season with Daniella Magallon scoring twice in her first action this season. Katinha Arruda put OBU on top with 10:18 left in the first half and that score stood up through halftime. McPherson tied the game on a goal by Becky Amiot with 37:21 left in the game.
Magallon untied the score with her first goal less than four minutes after the Bulldogs tied the game. Cara Zalenski delivered the lead back to OBU at the 4:51 mark and Magallon iced the game with a goal 42 seconds later. Mairi Negri picked up the win in goal with three saves.
McPherson dipped to 2-6-1 with the loss.
The Bison, ranked 24th in the latest NAIA poll, led 3-0 at halftime and cruised to the 4-1 win.
Amaury Nunes put OBU ahead in the 14th minute, 1-0, and Thiago Silva netted his team-leading 13th goal of the season for a 2-0 lead at the 18:25 mark of the half.
Tony Madegwa scored for a 3-0 lead with 17 minutes showing on the first half clock.
Austin Bray put McPherson on the board with 9:25 to play in the game, but Fabio Pires answered for the Bison, scoring with 5:40 left for the 4-1 capper. McPherson drops to 3-6 on the season.
Quinn Will picked up the win in goal with three saves.
OBU, now 9-1, will join the Lady Bison for a doubleheader at Sterling College Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.
