OBU Soccer Takes Two

Oklahoma Baptist University's soccer teams closed out the OBU Soccer Classic with a pair of wins Saturday as the Bison recorded a 5-0 win over Dallas Baptist after the Lady Bison trounced Oklahoma Wesleyan 11-0.
The Bison improved to 8-1 on the season with the win, which included three yellow cards for each squad.
Quinn Will collected nine saves for a second consecutive shutout.
Thiago Silva gave OBU a 1-0 lead with his 12th goal of the season, with an assist from Marcos Silva at the 9:33 mark of the game. Thiago Silva would provide an assist for the first of Amaury Nunes' two goals, this one coming in the 15th minute.
OBU took the 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Nunes scored on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute for a 3-0 lead. Elton Silva fed Marcos Silva with a nice pass for his 11th goal this season with 24 minutes left in the game. Tony Madegwa scored the game's final goal with 43 seconds left on the clock.
Katinha Arruda scored five goals for the OBU women while Anne Castro added a hat trick and Cara Zalenski had her third multi-goal game of the season. Carissa Watson also collected her first goal of the year.
Entering the game, only Arruda and Zalenski had scored for OBU, but Castro joined the club in the second minute with an assist from Zalenski for a 1-0 lead.
Arruda scored three of her goals, Castro scored again and Zalenski got another on her own for a 6-0 first half lead. Zalenski, Arruda, Castro and Watson all had first half assists.
Arruda fed Castro for the first goal of the second half, coming in the 62nd minute and Watson scored from long range off a Castro feed.
Zalenski scored without an assist and then found Arruda open for a goal to give OBU its first double-digit scoring game. OBU ended the scoring with 47 seconds left in the game with Arruda getting her season-leading eighth goal on an assist from Melissa Thorman.
The Lady Bison (3-3) out-shot Oklahoma Wesleyan 32-2. Neither of the OWU shots were on goal. The Eagles have scored once in their eight games, all losses.
Mairi Negri and Andi Little shared the shutout for OBU.
The OBU squads make a trip to Kansas next week to play at McPherson College on Thursday and Sterling College on Saturday.
