Bison Add Tyler Ryan to Basketball Roster
August 2, 2004
What may be the last piece of the recruiting puzzle for Oklahoma Baptist University was a big addition Monday when Sauk Valley Community College standout Tyler Ryan committed to the Bison.
The 6-2 guard from Rock Island, Ill., averaged 20.58 points per game, ranking 18th among National Junior College Athletics Association schools. He shot 82.48 percent from the line (21st in the nation) and also dished 125 assists.
The NCAA Division I prospect gunned 40 percent from three-point range. Ryan was a first-team All-Region IV selection and was Region IV Tournament MVP in 2003.
"We're certainly glad to be able to add an athlete like Tyler to our roster at this point in the summer," said Bison coach Doug Tolin. "We felt like we needed another guard and he's a good one. He should be able to come in and help us get where we want to be."
With the addition of Ryan, OBU's back-court looks solid with returning starter Leonard Mosley, projected starter Robert Hart, key reserve Bailey Jones and freshman Nic Pope all working for playing time.
