Weir to Deliver Minter Lecture March 1
February 19, 2004
Russell C. Weir, region service executive in the IBM Global Services-ITS Western Region, will deliver Oklahoma Baptist University's annual Minter Lecture at 10 a.m., Monday, March 1, in the Geiger Center.
The Minter Lectureship was established in 1991 by Lloyd G. Minter, a 1940 OBU graduate. The Bartlesville resident has served five terms as an OBU trustee. He created the lectureship to provide orientation and training for OBU religion students in the history and nature of the American economic system and to help the students understand and appreciate the business and professional community.
Weir will speak on the topic of being a Christian in a business world.
Since joining the Western Region just over a year ago, Weir has focused on two key mission elements: a complete restructuring of the 'go-to market' model for services delivery and the on-boarding of more than 50 new principals to grow the business. He is responsible for more than 550 employees and for delivering over $800 million in revenues in 2003.
He graduated with honors in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University and has completed more than 1,500 hours of additional leadership, management, technical and industry education.
Weir has been selected for numerous awards, including several IBM Marketing and Technical Excellence awards for the growth and success of his group and client engagements.
