OBU Missions Emphasis Runs Sept. 15-20

As part of its Missions Emphasis Week, Oklahoma Baptist University will host Frank Blackwood and Dr. Jerry Rankin as chapel speakers next week. The chapel messages will be just one of many activities highlighting missions awareness the week of Sept. 15.
Blackwood, the founder and director of the Aid Sudan Foundation will speak 10 a.m. Monday in OBU's Potter Auditorium.
Based in Houston, Texas, Aid Sudan is a Christian nonprofit organization that takes mission teams into the refugee camps in the war zones of southern Sudan.
Blackwood has spent many years in the international business world and has traveled in more than 80 countries. He founded the Aid Sudan Foundation in 2000. Blackwood graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdcoches, Texas.
President of the International Mission Board (IMB), Dr. Jerry Rankin will address student in the Wednesday and Friday chapel services.
Rankin has headed the IMB since 1993. Before accepting that appointment, he and his wife Bobbye served as church planters and missionary coordinators in Indonesia and the South Pacific region.
Rankin received his bachelor of arts degree from Mississippi College and his master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He has honorary doctor degrees from Mississippi College and California Baptist University.
The IMB, formerly known as the Foreign Mission Board, is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation's largest evangelical denomination, with more than 40,000 churches with more than 15 million members. The board's main objective is "presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ in order to lead individuals to saving faith in Him and result in church-planting movements among all the peoples of the world."
