Pruiett Recital Set for Sept. 4
August 20, 2003
On Thursday, Sept. 4, Kevin Pruiett, assistant professor of music at Oklahoma Baptist University, will present his first recital since joining the OBU faculty in August, 2001.
This recital, featuring OBU faculty keyboardists Dr. Ron Davis, Dr. Ron Lewis, Dr. Melissa Roberts, and Dr. Carol Ann Bell, is part of the requirements for Pruiett's D.M.A. degree in trumpet from the University of Illinois. He will present the recital in Illinois later in the semester.
The program includes works from several different eras and styles, including a baroque work for trumpet and organ (with Davis) by Giuseppe Tartini, contemporary works by Ibert and Dana Wilson (with Roberts), Ewazen (with Lewis), and "At the River" arranged by Aaron Copland (with Bell.)
Technically the program is very diverse and will showcase Pruiett's abilities as a performer.
In addition to performing, Pruiett teaches brass methods, music literature and instrumental repair courses at OBU as well as directing the Bison Jazz Orchestra.
The recital will be at 7:30 p.m. in Potter Auditorium.
