Fifteen Nursing Grads Receive Pins
May 23, 2003
Fifteen Oklahoma Baptist University nursing school seniors received their OBU pins Friday in Raley Chapel, symbolizing their transition from student nurses to professional nurses.
Beverly Hough, a 1967 OBU graduate and co-chair of the Asian Health Consortium, in her address to the students, urged them to use wisdom, strength and vision as their anchors.
She told the students they had just completed one of the best opportunities for gathering wisdom by listening at the feet of the "ancient sages" of the OBU nursing faculty.
Hough added that they would need strength to take on tough situations and go against the grain on occasion. She told them to find their vision by finding their passion and to stay committed to it.
Dr. Juanita Johnson, retiring assistant professor of nursing, gave the charge to the graduates.
Receiving their pins were Christina Amato and Terri Morris of Shawnee, Adreanna Bowie and Liberty Kauley of Meeker, Elesha Kay Jordan of Tecumseh, Melanie Bynum of Midwest City, MelissaJoy Cox of Enid, Janna Dobbins of San Antonio, Texas, Stacy Huitsing of Joplin, Mo., Angela Jackson of Wichia, Kan., Keren Kinglow of Houston, Texas, Michelle Mangan of Choctaw, Shana Person of Spokane, Wash., and Dara White of Oklahoma City.
