Friday Night Dinner to Kick Off Homecoming

Oklahoma Baptist University's popular Friday evening Homecoming Harves Dinner that traditionally attracts several hundred alumni and friends, will be tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m. in the Geiger Center
The program will include the presentation of Alumni Achievement Awards to 1958 OBU graduate Dr. Calvin Miller, professor of preaching and pastoral studies at Samford University's Beeson Divinity School and author of The Singer Trilogy, and 1962 graduate Robert L. Allen, who served as executive director for Oklahoma Educational Television Authority for 27 years before retiring in 1998.
OBU's Graduate Of the Last Decade Alum of the Year Award will be presented to Jami V. Smith,'93, contemporary Christian music recording artist.
The program also will include the induction of two new OBU Athletic Hall of Fame members. Charles Stewart, ex '70, lettered in track, baseball and basketball for the Bison in the late 1960s. Peter Schouw, '94, earned seven All-America honors in cross country and track.
John W. Parrish, OBU executive vice president, will serve as master of ceremonies and President Mark Brister will offer remarks to conclude the dinner.
The Harvest Dinner also will include the presentation of the student candidates for the 2002 Harvest Court. The six-member court will be announced from the eighteen senior candidates during Saturday night's Alumni Showcase and Harvest Festival.
The court includes Best All-Around Man and Woman, Most Servant-Like Man and Woman, and Harvest King and Queen.
