OBU Hosts Be a Bison Day
October 23, 2002
The first of five "Be a Bison Day" events for prospective students of Oklahoma Baptist University, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The event is designed for high school seniors, who have been accepted to the university, to visit the campus and experience a day in the life of a typical OBU student. Students attend classes and a chapel service, eat lunch in the cafeteria and debrief at a closing session.
Parents, who receive a separate schedule for the day, meet administrators including Dale Griffin, campus minister, and Larry Hollingsworth, director of financial aid. OBU President Mark Brister will welcome parents and students during the closing session of the day.
"For many current students, Be a Bison Day was the deciding factor that helped them choose OBU," said Cindy Bartley, assistant dean of admissions.
The event averages 40-50 students. Students also can attend Be a Bison Day on Dec. 11, Feb. 19, March 26, and April 16.
