Missionary in Residence to Speak in Chapel

Missionary in residence Dr. Edward Tarleton will lead Oklahoma Baptist University's Missions Emphasis Week chapel services, Oct. 23 and 25. Tarleton is a career missionary with the International Mission Board, serving on stateside assignment for a semester at OBU.
Tarleton serves as a strategy associate in central and eastern Europe. He also is a trustee for the Moscow Baptist Theological Seminary, where he was the first full-time foreign faculty member.
Tarleton has ministerial experience in evangelism, church growth, missions, preaching, pastoral counseling and development of Sunday School programs.
Before serving a decade with the IMB, Tarleton was youth and education minister and later pastor of Hazelwood Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. He also served as an executive board member for the Kentucky Baptist Convention during that time.
A Choctaw native, Tarleton received a bachelor of arts degree from OBU in 1982 and masters and doctoral degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Tarleton, and his wife, Teri, a 1981 OBU graduate, have four children.
