OBU Junior Class Prepares Run/Walk

Oklahoma Baptist University's class of 2004 will host the Bison Classic 5K Road Race Saturday, Sept. 21, on the OBU campus. The race is a class fundraiser and a benefit for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Shawnee.
Jana Cooper, president of OBU's junior class, and Cari Myers, member of the class cabinet, will serve as race directors. DG Productions of Oklahoma City will be the race coordinator.
The race includes a 5K walk/run, a 5K wheelchair race and a one-mile fun-run. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. on the university's Oval Drive. The fun-run will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the wheelchair race at 8:55 a.m. and the 5K walk/run at 9 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded at 10 a.m. The non-cash awards will be given to the top three male and female participants in each race. Prizes also will be given to the top three male and female participants in five-year incremental age groups beginning with age eight and under and continuing through age 80 and over.
Registration packets will be available in OBU's Geiger Center Sept. 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Early registration is $10 or $15 with a T-shirt. Race-day registration is $15 or $20 with a T-shirt. Checks can be made payable to OBU.
All participants must sign a waiver in order to compete in the race. For participants under the age of 18, the waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian. Skates, headphones, animals and strollers are all prohibited on the course.
