Women’s Day Brings National WMU Name to Campus

The national leader of the Women's Missionary Union will speak at Oklahoma Baptist University Wednesday, April 3, for the university's annual Women's Day celebration.
Wanda S. Lee will lead the chapel service, which is set aside each year to recognize the contributions of Oklahoma women to OBU. The service is at 10 a.m. in the university's Raley Chapel.
Lee also will speak at a luncheon after the chapel service for members of the OBU community and guests of the Women's Day celebration.
Lee is the seventh woman executive director/treasurer of the WMU, a national auxiliary organization to the Southern Baptist Convention.
She has been active in WMU for many years at the church, associational, state and national levels. Prior to being named to her current position in 2000, she served as volunteer WMU president for Georgia and the national president of WMU. She also served in several functions as a church Acteens leader and associational Baptist Young Women director.
A native of Russellville, Ala., Lee received an R.N. degree from the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing, now a part of Samford University. She later worked as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga., for 18 years. She also was a missionary nurse in St. Vincent, Winward Islands, with the International Mission Board for several years.
She has participated in medical mission projects to Bosnia and Brazil as well as working with several Habitat for Humanity projects. She led the Lottie Moon Tour of China in 1997. She also is a writer for Dimension magazine and Missions Mosaic.
She has served on the executive committees of the Baptist World Alliance and the Georgia Baptist Convention.
Lee and her husband, the Rev. Larry H. Lee, reside in Alabama and have two grown children.
