Noted Songwriter Set to Perform

Dennis Jernigan, a highly sought-after Christian worship leader and author, will perform a mini-concert at Oklahoma Baptist University's Alumni Showcase tonight (Saturday) at 8 p.m. in Potter Auditorium. Jernigan is a 1981 graduate of OBU.
The Homecoming finale event also will feature performances by talented alumni from reunioning classes, Louise Felkel Bateman, a 1961 OBU graduate on Clavinova, and vocalists Travis Holland, '81, and Jill Shirley Mirikitani, '91, and the presentation of the traditional Harvest Court.
Jernigan has recorded more than two dozen music albums and has written several books on various aspects of the Christian life. He also leads worship conferences through his ministry, Shepherd's Heart Music.
Some of his most popular songs include "We Will Worship the Lamb of Glory," "You Are My All in All," "Great Is the Lord Almighty," "I Belong to Jesus," "When the Night Is Falling," "Thank You," and "Nobody Fills My Heart like Jesus."
Shepherd's Heart Music has sold or given away over one million units of all his recordings combined since 1990. The song "You Are My All in All" is #11 in song use in the USA according to CCLI and is #4 in Canada. Jernigan has seven songs in the 500 most-used songs in the USA.
Jernigan leads the praise and worship celebration Night of Praise on the first Friday of each month in the Oklahoma City area. His ability to lead others in worship has made him a popular guest both in churches and at conferences around the nation.
The Boynton, Okla., native and his wife, the former Melinda Hewitt, also a 1981 OBU graduate, have nine children. They reside on a 113-acre farm near Muskogee and are members of New Community Church, where Dennis is a home cell group pastor.
