October 25, 2001
October 25, 2001
Acclaimed Christian singer songwriter Ginny Owens will perform at Oklahoma Baptist University, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. in the university's Raley Chapel.
Blind since the age of two, Owens' musical sensitivity has brought her wide recognition and a record deal with Michael W. Smith's Rocketown Records. Her record debut, "Without Condition," was released in 1999 under that label and earned several #1 radio hits, including "Free."
In 2000, Owens received a Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. She has appeared on numerous television shows, including Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee, CNN's Worldbeat, and The Ainsley Harriott Show and has performed at the Sundance Festival.
Born in Jackson, Miss., Owens lost all her sight by the age of two. She was awarded a full scholarship from Belmont University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in music education.
The concert is free and open to the public.
