The University Chorale, Oklahoma Baptist University's mixed chorus, will present its 2001 Capers "From Opera to Broadway," April 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the university's Yarborough Auditorium.
The evening will provide a variety of musical entertainment featuring choreographed selections from the most loved operas and Broadway shows.
The 45-student chorus, under the direction of Dr. Nancy Cobb Lippens, will perform "Think of Me" from the Phantom of the Opera, "Anvil Chorus" from Il Trovatore, and "Do You Hear the People Singing" from Les Miserables, among others.
Ensembles will perform "On My Own," from Les Miserables, "Honey Bun" from South Pacific, and "Fugue of Ten Horns," from Guys and Dolls.
The performers will be accompanied by pianists senior Josh Dumbleton and junior Caleb Harris.
Lippens, OBU professor of music, has been a member of the university's faculty since 1976 and is an OBU graduate. She received her master of music degree from Michigan State University and a doctorate in music from the University of Oklahoma.
Capers is a fundraiser for the ensemble's tour to Italy this summer.
